Having farmed for the last few decades Veteran’s Day provokes thoughts of life altering events that have or have not happened. For me moving from a big town school to a small, meant spending an extra year in high school and being one year older at “draft” time. This afforded the opportunity to serve as a Marine “reservists” for six years & to stay and work “State side”. So many little things have major consequences in life and on the farm.
Each day we make decisions that have effects felt by our environment, some short term and many long term. As with life, the life of the farm is the whole of a great many interactions that we play some roll in. So for me looking back this Veteran’s Day I know I am blessed with fortuitous events that have come into play with all that is Windrose Farm today, and tomorrow. That today I honor all those who served over seas and pray events have treated them well, knowing many have had a hard times then and now.
