Lettuce in July!

July 11, 2012 · windrosefarm

These are photos of an experimental interplanting of Basil and Lettuce. Normally we would never be able to have such pretty lettuce in July, but the Basil shades it quite nicely. We are constantly conducting informal and intuitive experiments like this, especially with our greens as we attempt to extend the season into the hot summer months.

B & B, never thought about interplanting it like that, thought it was the heat that the lettuce had trouble with (and you have plenty of that in July!) Might have to experiment, can’t wait to see you in a few weeks!
